First Day Of School

Today, August 12, 2009. The first day of school for the girls. Last night was the adventure of preparing all the clothing necessary for the daunting task of the "BIG DAY". Alicia-- the hunt was on for the perfect pair of khakis. Oh my word. We went to every (did I say every?) store in Fayette County searching for them. We were able to complete our mission successfully and she was prepared for today. Sarah, Hope, and Erica were much easier to dress, although we had to find everything and it had to be perfect. But getting everyone to bed and to sleep was the real challenge. After a summer full of late bedtimes and sleeping in until their eyes decided to open, going to bed early (and actually falling asleep) and waking up at dawns early light was a little bit--lets say-- difficult. But the little and big troppers prevailed and were wide eyed and bushy tailed at 6:15 this morning. They were up and at em--excited to reunite with old friends, meet new friends, and get to know their teachers.
I must say it was really weird not waking Christian up to get ready for school. His adventure begins next week!!
All in all today was a wonderful day for Alicia, Sarah, Hope and Erica. They had great stories of their "first day of school". Everything from the bus ride, to lunch, to special classes, to who is in their classes, to coming home with thousands of papers to fill out.
Lets pray that tomorrow is as easy as today.

But as for me, it always saddens me--this day called "the first day of school. I miss the homeschooling days. (But don't tell anyone--LOL)

  1. I'm so glad everyone had a wonderful first day.
I know you miss being home with them and I am praying that you and the girls will make the best of any time you have together. Jenny - you are truly blessed to have such beautiful daughters (so am I!) and I am so proud of the way you are trying to raise them. Remember, there is only one true person you need to consult daily - Your wonderful Creator!- (no - not me,silly - GOD!)
I enjoyed reading your blog - you have a way with words. Wonder where you got that from? :)
